What is the difference between MR and HR licence?
A MR licence is required to drive vehicles more than 8 tonnes and 2 axels. Flat bed trucks and buses are examples of MR vehicles

A HR licence is required to drive vehicles more than 8 tonnes and 3 axels.

Whether you need an MR or HR licence will depend on the type of vehicle you are driving for work/recreation. It is undoubtedly easier to get an MR licence than a HR licence as the MR is like driving a C class (car) whereas the HR is a big step up to a “real” truck.
To be eligible for an and MR licence you must have held your C class licence for a minimum of 1 year, pass a heavy vehicle knowledge test, and eyesight test and successfully complete the MR driving assessment through the WA Department of Transport.
You can complete an application for an MR licence in person at your local Department of Transport office or download the form online https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/licensing/LBU_F_DL_DLA_1_DriversLicenceApplication.pdf
